THUMOS is a zero-carbon industrial ecosystem operator. Built on water, electricity, heat, carbon, energy storage, hydrogen and digitalization, we help cities, industrial parks and enterprises build their Second Value Factory — turning energy systems from cost centers into continuously productive assets.
Explore our business →Every city, park and factory runs two factories. The first produces its core products and services. The second lies hidden in water, electricity, heat, carbon, storage and data — systems long treated as pure cost. Through systematic operation of demand response, off-peak thermal storage, virtual power plants and AI dispatch, we turn them into measurable, continuous sources of new value: energy savings, gas savings, carbon reduction, peak shaving, VPP revenues, asset operation and data value.
The core question of the Urban Thermal Internet is not how much heat can be stored, but how to price a value pool that industrial civilisation has long overlooked.
Since the Industrial Revolution, every heat exchange device — cooling systems, heat exchangers, condensers — has been fighting fouling. Scale layers conduct heat far worse than metal, so heat that should have been transferred and used stays trapped in the system, and more electricity and water are spent forcing it out.
This heat never disappeared. It has simply been unmeasured, unattributed and unclaimed — it is ineffective heat.
Our position: ineffective heat is not a loss — it is an existing asset that has never been quantified. Measuring it, attributing it and operating it is the most fundamental application of the Second Value Factory in urban thermal energy.
AquaVerse™ · Zhongcheng Shiji (Shanghai) Water Resources Technology
Through water quality and structural treatment of industrial circulating cooling water systems, we eliminate structural efficiency losses and bring heat that has been idled by cooling-system inefficiency back into a range where it is measurable, usable, attributable and settleable. This is the primary reservoir of the Urban Thermal Internet — its scale comes from decades of accumulated efficiency gaps across industry, not from the capacity of any single device.
ThermRoots® × Electric Heat Source × VPP × AI
Redistributing heat across time: phase-change storage charges on off-peak power and discharges at peak; high-efficiency electric heat sources replace gas boilers; virtual power plants and AI dispatch turn building thermal loads into grid flexibility.
Heat recovered from descaling, heat shifted by off-peak storage, heat reclaimed from industrial waste streams — different grades, different settings, different origins. Only when unified into thermal megawatt-hours (MWhth) can they be accounted for, attributed, audited, and ultimately operated and traded. A unified unit of measure is the precondition for turning heat into an asset — and a subject of institutional research THUMOS is actively advancing.
01 · quantified at source
02 · returned to productive use
03 · clear ownership of value
04 · settled under FEPC
05 · institution-building stage
Buildings and industrial facilities become measurable, dispatchable, networked nodes
The first four stages can already be settled today under Full Energy Performance Contracting on a thermal megawatt-hour basis. Mechanisms for trading thermal energy rights on open markets remain at an institution-building stage; THUMOS advances them through demonstration projects and methodology research.
